Come July 1st, yet another historical landmark in Singapore will exist only in the books - The Tanjong Pagar Railway Station.

So I took a trip to travel... well not down memory lane, but I wanted something to keep in my memory lane.

Remember I mentioned before I had stopped using my DSLR?

Now I can officially say that I can drop that camera?

I have given up photography totally.

As if. You see, 2 things happened.

One, I have fallen in love with my FM2, because it is much lighter than the DSLR. And EVERYONE carries a DSLR now, so me carrying one is so uncool.

Two, my camera spoiled.

So i took up the FM2, loaded it up with film. black and white this time and I went shooting.

I realised that one role of film takes a long time to complete.

And so this roll contains frames that were taken over a couple of months. I will share part one with you first.

I am so amazed at how time passed.

When I was looking through this blog, I realized that it's been sometime that I actually dugged out my camera, lugged it along with me on the streets and began to just shoot whatever amused me.

So I was looking through old photographs and I came across a set of photos that I took during one of trips. What's amazing was that these photos were taken before my I actually learnt photography proper.

But I thought some of the photos were really cool, raw but cool.. So i thought I'd rather share them.

I took these photos while I was on a trip with my sister and her family to Perth.

Back to the Basics

I given up digital photography.

For now.

Well not that I will not pick up the digital camera again, but i am just hooked up to a new hobby.

No, I am not giving up photography. I am just giving up DIGITAL photography.

I recently found an old Nikon FM2, and some negatives while packing my room.

It had been a gift from my father to me as he had no use for it.

In any case, I fitted the film into the camera, got a few khakis and went out for a photo shoot. This time, not armed with batteries and memory card, but with canisters of film.

The experience?

When I was taking "Painting", there were about 3 or 4 other photographers. Everyone else was using the DSLR. But as I was not part of their crew, they let waited for me to complete my shot. All the while wondering where the relic came from.

I took aim, and amidst the "beep beep beeps", I turned the dial to set my shutter.

"Kiak Kiak Kiak"
"ClickCLOCK" I hit the shutter release.

"ZzzZZZZZ Click" I wounded the film manually.

"Thank you guy! Have fun!"

I walked away, savouring the amused looks on their faces.

This series of photographs is dedicated to my Grandmother, who always and wanted and dreamt of returning to the Ghim Moh Estate.

Six Blocks of this estate are scheduled to be demolished and rebuilt under the HDB SERS program. And I made one more visit back to the estate after my granny's funeral and found out that the estate is surprisingly serene and quiet, and the estate is incredibly beautiful. So i decided to do a series for this estate.

The photographs have no intrinsic meaning, it was taken to show flats of the estate, and also to showcase the colours that still flourished in its last days.

It was at this colourful and peaceful estate that my Grandmother made her last journey to the Land of the Departed.

This photograph series is about a certain person that I know. We've known each other for about close to 5 years, and through this times, I have seen the many faces of him, and thus in this series I have decided to compile a short series of photographs that features him.

These photographs were taken between September 2008 to November 2008.

Five photographs are not enough to discuss in detail the character of person. In fact, no amount of photograph can. But these photographs can give us an insight of the people around us. They can also remind us of the experiences that we went through.

To my friend:

I have enjoyed these 5 years of companionship and friendship, care and concern and God knows what. And I know I will enjoy the following years to come.

And I most certainly enjoyed making this series.

There is this game that i like to play with Fatty, and that is throw and catch.

You mean Throw me and Catch me right?

Yeah, but it is about throwing you into the air and catching it. Was it fun? Bet it was.

oo.. Love that game. If not for the fact that you are 8X Kg heavy I would have enjoyed the game more.

HALO! How dare you leaked the heavenly secret?

Anyway, speaking of heavenly, I was looking through the photos that I have taken during the semester, I stumbled upon a small collection.

It all has to do with the sky and how the elements of the world interacted with the sky, and hence, this mini series was to be entitled The Fimamament, as synonymous as The Sky.

Now the module has ended, but the journey with my camera has not ended. So this blog will now serve as a place where I will continually post my newer pictures, and also pictures that I have taken during the semester while going on those photo trips but they never got a chance to come out of my work folders to be shown.

Of course Teddy will still be here, but he will cease to be Darth Ted and will now appear as his original self, Fatty.

These are the individual photographs that were taken during the semester excluding the final assignment. They are arranged in reverse chronological order just as the physical portfolio was.

As some of you may know, the last assignment meant alot to me so I will just leave it for a while before I post it up.

So where do i go from here?

I will be embarking on taking certain series of photographs to practice my skills.

Also just to share some of the photographs that I have taken, afterall, if I took photographs but nobody sees what's the point right?

This blog also serves as a portal for people to look at so that they might give me a chance to capture their best moment.
